Hello, my name is Wes Bush and I'm the author of the bestselling book on Product-Led Growth. I'm also the host of the ProductLed Summit and ProductLed Podcast, where we dissect how hundreds of the world's top SaaS leaders have built their successful product-led businesses. Now, I'd argue that I spent more time digging into how to build a product-led business than anyone else on this planet, but this crazy obsession around product-led growth didn't always exist. You see, back in 2016, when I was in demand generation at a company called Vidyard, I followed the traditional SaaS growth playbook. You probably know the one, where you create a bunch of content, put it behind a lead form, and then send those people a ton of emails until one day they hopefully request a demo and turn into a customer. Yes, I was one of those annoying marketers and I'm ashamed to even say it, but I couldn't help feel like there was a better way to do marketing.

Wes Bush:
You see, I myself typically didn't request a demo unless I really, really, really wanted to purchase that software product. The products I used and loved all the time, they let me sign up for free and experience the value of that product all before asking me to pay up front. I'm sure you can probably relate too, whether it's Slack, Zoom, Netflix, or Asana. The majority of the tools we sign up for let us get started on our own without talking to anyone. So when I was able to help launch a premium product at the company I referenced earlier, at Vidyard, you can say I was pretty darn excited. But what I didn't expect was for this premium product to quickly balloon to over 100,000 users in less than 12 months. You see, such rapid growth brought on a ton of new challenges around how to build a product-led business.

And the reason I'm here is really to break down how you can build a successful product led business, and although a lot of people refer to me as a product-led guru and expert, I want you to know I do by no means have all the answers on how to build a product-led business.
